About Coquitlam’s Trusted Daycare Service
Since 1994, a small daycare
that feels like family.
Choosing where to leave your child each day is one of the hardest decisions you will ever make. For thirty years, Coquitlam families have trusted that decision to Stars.
A licensed daycare that has served Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities since 1994.
Stars Childcare is a licensed, established family daycare in Coquitlam, providing safe, educational care in a stimulating environment for children from birth to age 5.
We run full-time and part-time places from a bright ground-floor space with its own separate entrance and ample parking, opening onto a very large fenced backyard with a fully equipped playground. It is deliberately small: one mixed-age group, the same familiar faces every day, and room for every child to be known well.

Meet Shala.
Stars is owned and run by Shala Monfred, who brings over 30 years of experience in childcare. She holds an Early Childhood Education diploma and current First Aid, CPR and Food Safe certification.
Shala speaks English, Farsi and Spanish, and weaves Spanish words and phrases into the children's day. Parents often describe the respect and gentle discipline between Shala and the children, and just as often, they describe her as part of their family.

What we believe
Small children do their best growing in a calm, loving place where the adults know them well. Consistency is not boring. It is what makes a child feel safe enough to explore.
What we promise
A clean, safe environment, honest and open communication, and care that treats your child as if they were our own, the same standard we have held since 1994.
What your child gets
Real friendships across ages, early literacy and numeracy, three languages in their ears, daily fresh air, and a second home full of people who are glad to see them.
